Technology Commercialisation

Turn technical capability into a defensible business, investment or licensing proposition.

Reviewed August 2026

Technology commercialisation is the disciplined conversion of an invention, know-how package or technical capability into an operable proposition. IIL treats the opportunity as one connected system: ownership, evidence, claim, customer problem, economics, capital, regulation, manufacturing and execution.

Commercialisation sequence

  1. Confirm authority, ownership and the current evidence boundary.
  2. Define the customer problem, intended claim and priority use case.
  3. Select the business model, route to market and value-sharing logic.
  4. Identify regulatory, quality, manufacturing and adoption dependencies.
  5. Link capital and partner activity to the next material reduction in uncertainty.

Decision standard

The output must distinguish established facts from management assumptions and future objectives. A persuasive narrative is useful only when its claims remain traceable to evidence and its milestones can be governed.
